Build chemical storage and mixing rooms that are fireproof, well ventilated, temperature controlled, and easy to clean.
Transport chemicals in sealed, non-fragile containers. If transporting containers of liquid or powdered chemicals by trolley, a cart with a tray or wall should be used.
Use small containers to store chemicals at work. Preventing chemical leaks is easier when large quantities of chemicals as well as large containers are located in separate storage areas.
The lids of chemical containers or valves should be placed at the top.
Pouring chemicals from one container to another should use a hose for liquid chemicals, a ladle or another tool for solid chemicals such as pastes, powders or pellets. The tray should be placed below to catch if chemicals are spilled.
Place electrostatic mats around the storage area of flammable solvents to prevent static electricity, causing fires and explosions. When transferring solvents from one container to another, to avoid fire and explosion, each container should be grounded. Or it is possible to ground one tank while the other tanks are connected to the grounded tank, forming a closed conductive system.
Temperature control during plastic processing. When plastic melts excessively, it can leak or overflow.
It is necessary to regularly check and maintain containers, pipes, pumps, valves and machinery to avoid chemical leakage, especially for automatic or manual shut-off devices. Damaged or worn parts should be detected early so that they can be repaired or replaced in time before chemical leaks occur.
